Welcome to the Wee Farm In CT!

Welcome to the Wee Farm In CT!

The Wee Farm is about to enter a new chapter! We are about to move to a new location and this Wee Farm girl is about to to buy her first house!

The old farm had over 200 sqft of gardens in both raised beds and pots. It was pretty! In the new yard who knows what mother nature will throw at us!

Last summer we added the chickens to the Wee Farm.  They were a plan that took years to achieve.  This farmer girl took a life changing workshop at Cold Antler Farm in NY on May 10, 2013.  Those little guys ruled the roost for the whole summer and grew fast!

The then Girleenes, Banty, Mara, and Empress Sisi just days old

There was some heart break, when one of those sweet little chicks started crowing.  Yep Sisi the high maintance chick became Emperor Franz Joseph (Empress Sisi's husband, the empress of Austria).

I got a chance to build the coolest chicken coop ever with my dad.  It took ALL SUMMER! There was a lot blood, sweat, and tears. I even got a cool scar on my cheek from pulling up a fence post during a rain storm. This farm girl is tough!

Now those little chicks have GROWN into almost full size chickens.  Banty started laying eggs on the coldest day in CT in decades and Mara started a few weeks later.

This farm girl found a great chickmunity (chicken community) of loving, supportitive people on facebook. Those people are teaching me the ways of the chicken so I learn to take better care of them. Like when Franz Joseph got frostbite

And more heartbreak, that sweet rooster doesn't have very good manners anymore so he's looking for a new home with more space and more hens.  Life here is never dull!

So the Wee Farm is about to survive it's first winter with chickens, move to my first house, and embark on another season with more lessons.

Who's sticking around for the ride?
